Verse: Exodus 6:2–3 NKJV “And God spoke to Moses and said to him: ‘I am the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name Lord I was not known to them.’”
 
Devotional: Jehovah is a name of God that speaks of His faithfulness and His desire to be known personally by His people. It’s closely connected to the name Yahweh, but it carries the sense of God revealing Himself in relationship and covenant. In Exodus 6, God is speaking to Moses during a time when His people were in bondage. They were oppressed, tired, and waiting for deliverance. In that moment, God reminds Moses of who He is. “I am the Lord.” He was not introducing Himself as someone new. He was revealing Himself more fully. That is what Jehovah does, He reveals. God had already been known as God Almighty to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They saw His power and experienced His provision. But now, through Moses, God was about to show His people something deeper. Not just what He can do, but who He is to them. Jehovah is the God who keeps His word. Exodus 6:6 says, “I will bring you out… I will rescue you… I will redeem you.” Over and over, God speaks in promises. He was not reacting to Israel’s situation. He had already made a covenant, and He was moving according to what He had spoken. This matters for us today.

There are moments when life feels uncertain and we begin to question if God will come through. We may not say it out loud, but we feel it. We wonder if He sees, if He cares, or if He will act. Jehovah reminds us that God does not forget His promises. Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man, that He should lie… Has He said, and will He not do?” What God speaks, He fulfills. His timing may not match ours, but His faithfulness never changes. Jehovah isn’t distant. He’s a covenant keeping God who is actively involved in the lives of His people. This name also invites us into relationship. God isn’t just powerful. He’s personal. He desires to be known, trusted, and followed. Jeremiah 9:24 says, “Let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me.” Knowing God is not about knowing facts. It’s about walking with Him. When you begin to understand Jehovah, you start to rest in His consistency. You stop questioning His character every time something shifts in your life. You begin to trust that what He has spoken over you and in His Word is still true. Today is a reminder that God isn’t changing His mind about you. He isn’t stepping back. He isn’t unsure. He is Jehovah. He is faithful. And He will do what He has said.
 
Prayer: God, You are Jehovah, the One who reveals Himself and keeps His promises. Thank You that You are not distant, but personal and present in my life. Help me to trust Your Word, even when I don’t see immediate results. When I begin to question or doubt, remind me of Your faithfulness. You have never failed, and You never will. Teach me to walk with You, not just believe in You from a distance. I want to know You more, not just for what You do, but for who You are. Strengthen my trust in Your promises and help me rest in Your consistency. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
