Day 3: Yahweh
Verse: Exodus 3:14 NKJV
“And God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.’ And He said, ‘Thus you shall say to
the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.’”
Devotional: Yahweh is the personal name of God. It’s the name He used when He revealed Himself to Moses at the burning bush. When Moses asked who he should say sent him, God didn’t give a long explanation. He simply said, “I AM.” This name is different. It’s not just describing what God does. It reveals who God is. Yahweh means the self-existent One. He has no beginning and He has no end. He isn’t dependent on anyone or anything. He is constant, unchanging, and completely sufficient within Himself. That matters more than we realize. Everything in our lives change. Circumstances shift. People come and go. Emotions rise and fall. Even our own thoughts can feel unstable at times. It’s easy to feel unsettled when everything around us feels uncertain. But Yahweh doesn’t change. Malachi 3:6 says, “For I am the Lord, I do not change.” Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” The same God who spoke to Moses is the same God who is present with you right now. When God says, “I AM,” it’s not just a name. It’s a statement of presence.
He isn’t the God who was. He isn’t just the God who will be. He is the God who is. Right now, in this moment. That means whatever you need, that is who He is. When you feel weak, He is strength. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” When you feel uncertain, He is truth. When you feel lost, He is the way. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Yahweh isn’t distant or disconnected. He’s personal and present. This name also reminds us that God isn’t defined by our circumstances. We don’t get to decide who He is based on what we are walking through. He remains who He is, no matter what we face. Sometimes we try to figure everything out before we trust God. We want answers, clarity, and a full plan. But Yahweh calls us to trust Him for who He is, not just for what He does. Moses didn’t get every detail when he stood at the burning bush. What he received was enough. He received the presence of God. And that is still enough for us today. Yahweh is with you. Not just in a general sense, but personally. He sees you, He knows you, and He walks with you. You are not navigating life alone.
Prayer: God, You are Yahweh, the great I AM. You are constant, unchanging, and present in every moment of my life. Thank You that You are not distant or removed. You are here. You see me, You know me, and You are with me right now. When everything around me feels uncertain, remind me that You never change. Help me to trust You for who You are, not just for what I can see or understand. Teach me to rely on Your presence more than my own understanding. You are everything I need, and You are always enough. I choose to trust You today, Yahweh. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
